LIVE OAK, Fla. (WTXL) - With more than 67 percent of the vote, residents of Live Oak elected Frank C. Davis to be their new mayor.

One resident we spoke with spoke highly of his character, and said he was the obvious choice for leadership.

"Anytime I've ever needed him day or night he's been right there for me. He's that way with everybody. He's not partial. He doesn't play favorites," said Suwannee County resident Linda Walker. "He's just an all around good gentlemen that would represent this city the best I know."

Davis plans to encourage cooperation between the City of Live Oak and Suwannee County. He also hopes to invite new businesses to open in the city.

“My first priority is to get the message out that we are open for business that we have a pro growth pro business friendly atmosphere," said Davis. "We recently adopted a provision to our LDRs that will promote that pro growth and pro business attitude.”

Davis succeeds incumbent Mayor Sonny Nobles whose term ends in May.

Davis will serve a four year term beginning this June.

Suwannee County begins their primary elections Aug. 28.
