TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - An inmate at the Leon County Jail who claimed he was raped by another inmate is facing additional charges after admitting he made up the story so he could get out of jail faster.

Zachary Taylor, 22, later confirmed to an investigator he was not attacked.

Originally, Taylor said he was walking laps in his pod on July 20, when another inmate pulled him into his cell and assaulted him. Taylor made a report via a sick call request on July 23, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The next day, he provided a Leon County Sheriff's Office investigator with a sworn affidavit describing the incident.

After the LCSO investigator reviewed door logs and security video from the pod, the investigator concluded that the incident could not have occurred. The correctional officer working in the pod and a couple of inmates who were present also confirmed to the investigator that they saw no such act.

When the investigator confronted Taylor about his story not adding up, the court document said, Taylor admitted that another inmate had told him that if he made up such a story he might get out of jail faster.

Taylor was booked into the jail Monday for making the false report and received a $500 bond.

He was already in the jail for charges that included burglary, theft, battery and carrying a concealed weapon. He was booked into the jail on the earlier charges on May 27.
