LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Jail is now the Leon County Detention Facility.
"We are doing much more than just housing inmates, we are providing critical mental health services. Therefore our name needs to be reflective of those practices," says the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
Officials say the name change is more fitting.
Sheriff Walt McNeil also wants to put more focus on employment opportunities for those incarcerated.
