(WTXL)- Kimberly-Clark has recalled the "U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Regular Absorbency," after some users reported seeking medical attention to remove tampon pieces left behind in the body.

The corporation says they have received reports of the tampons unraveling inside the body and leaving pieces behind after being removed.

The recall is on tampons that were made and distributed between October 2016 and October 2018.

On Tuesday, Kimberly-Clark encouraged retailers to remove the recalled numbers from shelves and to post notification in their stores.

The corporation says there have been a small number of reports of infections, irritation, injury and other symptoms.

Kimberly-Clark is asking any consumer with this product to stop using it immediately.

The product can be identified by looking for specific code numbers found on the bottom of the package. A full list can be found here.

For more information you can contact Kimberly-Clark's Consumer Service team at 1-888-255-3499 between 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday or click here.
