Kearney Center hosts annual Thanksgiving dinner

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Kearney Center has spent weeks preparing for their Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.

Staff and volunteers are expecting close to 400 people to arrive. They prepared for Thursday's meal all Wednesday afternoon.

All of the food provided was donated by local organizations such as Second Harvest of the Big Bend, Big Bend Homeless Coalition, and many more.

One volunteer is nothing but grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community and wants to encourage other people to do the same.

“Everyone should give back big or small. You can give back by smiling, talking, donating your time or energy," said Volunteer Magdalena De La Cruz. "Everyone should give back because our world needs to come together.”

The staff owes their success to the volunteers who make this event possible.
