TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 5K and a one-mile fun run are being hosted Saturday by a group that raises awareness for literacy and early learning services.

The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region's 4th Annual Run ELC will take place October 21 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Tom Brown Park, which is at 443 Eastwood Drive.

The registration fee is $15 for adults and $10 for children, including race packets and a T-shirt. Children age three and under can participate for free.

All proceeds from Run ELC will benefit the group's early learning initiatives.

The event also includes a book drive and various competitive activities for child care centers, preschools and schools. 

Special guest appearances will include NFL player Corey Simon, who played previously for Florida State University. 

The ELC is a private nonprofit organization that provides services to families, children and child car e providers in the seven counties of northern Florida's Big Bend Region: Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla.
