TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A grand jury has reached a verdict in the case of a Tallahassee woman accused of recording herself while inappropriately touching a child as she was breastfeeding.

Leigh Felten has been found guilty of one count of lewd or lascivious exhibition, which is a second degree felony. She was found not guilty on all other charges.

"I could not be happier, I think the jury did exactly what they were told to do or ask to do and that was to follow the law and apply the law to the facts and thank God they didn't try this case over morality," said John Eagen, Attorney for Leigh Felten.

The 34-year old has been in jail for over two years on several charges including promoting child pornography.

A judge ruled that the videos of her breastfeeding are not protected under free-speech rights.

She can face up to 15 years in jail. Her child will remain in the custody of the father.

Felten may be able to regain visitation rights after she is released from jail but it will be a civil matter at that point.

She will be sentenced Nov. 14.

"Maybe they might not think that Ms. Felten is the greatest mother in the world, maybe she didn't make the best decisions in the world. Maybe they might even say that some of her decisions were something that they wouldn't do and are distasteful," said John Eagen, Felten's attorney. Jury selection will be Monday. Felten has been in jail for over two years on numerous charges, including promoting child pornography.

Felten was in court earlier this year after a judge ruled that the videos of her breastfeeding are not protected under free speech rights.

"The most difficult aspect of this case in my opinion is picking the jury and getting the jury to think on the law as oppose to the morality," said John Edward Eagen, Leigh Felten's Attorney.

Felten was a piano teacher at Ms. Leigh's Piano Studio when she was arrested in 2016.
