TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee City Commissioners met Wednesday night with many items on their agenda, one of which is a historic property near Cascades Park that will soon be sold.
The Tallahassee City Commission just agreed to sell The Old City Waterworks property for $400,000 to North American Properties.
This property sits on the corner of Gadsden and Gaines streets, across the street from Cascades Park and the Cascades Project.
Three of the buildings on Waterworks site are listed as historic properties on the National and Local Historic Register.
The design team will be preserving these buildings while renovation and construction are underway.
"It’s a very historic building. We know it has to remain, but the interior is very beautiful. It would make a great restaurant, dining establishment, bar, restaurant," said Shawn Macintyre, NAP Florida Managing Partner. "It’s right at the entrance of our development. If it’s going to be sold, we wanted to bid on it."
Now that the commission has agreed on the sale, North American Properties hopes to begin work on the Waterworks property by this summer.
Completion of all of the development near Cascades Park is expected by winter of 2020
