FLORIDA (WWSB) – Gulf red snapper fishing season gets extended 39 days.

On Friday, June 16, the additional 39 days for recreational red snapper fishing begin.

The 39-day season is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Friday, June 16 through Monday, Sept. 4 and July 3-4.

This is the longest Gulf federal red snapper season since 2013, said the FWC.

“Though we had to reduce state waters fishing days in the summer and fall, we are pleased to be able to offer more fishing access this summer to anglers across Florida,” FWC Executive Director Nick Wiley said.
