(RNN) - Video has emerged of professional baseball player Danry Vasquez hitting his girlfriend multiple times.

Vasquez used to play in the minor league system of the Houston Astros. They released him when he was originally arrested for the assault in 2016.

The video was obtained by KRIS in Corpus Christi, TX. Vasquez was playing at the time with the Corpus Christi Hooks, an affiliate of the Astros.

The then 22-year-old can be seen entering a stairwell at the Corpus Christi ballpark with his girlfriend. He hits her across the face as they begin walking down the stairs. He then hits her again, on the top of her head, and pulls her down the stairs. He then again hits her across her face.

He leaves, and the video skips forward to him returning to the stairwell, where the victim remained. They walk down a second flight of stairs, and he once more hits her across the side of her head at the bottom of the stairs.

A local paper at the time reported on the existence of the ballpark surveillance video. Corpus Christi team officials also acknowledged having it in an arrest affidavit.

District Attorney Mark Gonzalez told KRIS the case has been dismissed and that Vasquez complied with the conditions of a plea deal.

Vasquez was released by the Lancaster Barnstormers in Pennsylvania, an independent team, after they learned of the video. No Major League team signed him after his release by Houston two years ago. His only playing time last year came in his home country, Venezuela.
