TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (The News Service of Florida) - As the Democratic primary for governor starts to take shape, a committee tied to former Congresswoman Gwen Graham raised $429,000 in April, according to a newly filed finance report.

The committee, known as “Our Florida,” had $553,532 in cash on hand as of April 30. Graham opened a campaign account for the race on May 1 and will not report contributions to that account until June.

Meanwhile, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who also is seeking the Democratic gubernatorial nomination next year, raised $160,359 for his campaign account in April and $92,000 for a closely linked committee, finance reports show.

Gillum, who entered the race in February, had $306,913 in cash on hand in his campaign account, and the committee, known as “Forward Florida,” had $468,040 on hand.

Candidates and political committees faced a Wednesday deadline for filing updated finance reports with the state Division of Elections.
