California lawmaker introduces resolution expelling Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress

LOS ANGELES (WTXL) — Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) announced Thursday he will be introducing a resolution to expel Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) from the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a lengthy statement in his press release, Rep. Gomez called out Rep. Greene for her recent behavior and comments that have recently surfaced online.

"Her very presence in office represents a direct threat against the elected officials and staff who serve our government," said Rep. Gomez. "And it is with their safety in mind, as well as the security of institutions and public servants across our country, that I call on my House colleagues to support my resolution to immediately remove Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from this legislative body."

Rep. Gomez's reason for the expulsion stems froma recent CNN article that uncovered social media activity and posts by Rep. Greene calling for violence against Democrats in elected office.

"Such advocacy for extremism and sedition not only demands her immediate expulsion from Congress," said Rep. Gomez.

Rep. Greene was elected in November and was nationally known for being a QAnon supporter. She also recently filedimpeachment articles against President Joe Biden the day after he was inaugurated.
