GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - In Gadsden County, residents are being asked to place storm debris from Hurricane Michael curbside on Jan. 20.
So far, the county collects on average of 283 loads daily, which equals more than 1 million cubic yards of debris totally $23 million.
Residents are encouraged to place debris on the right of way for pick up.
"After the 20th, our debris removal company will go back and will assess the roads that have the most debris on them and then make multiple passes," said Olivia Smith, Public Information Officer for Gadsden County. "So it's not like you won't get your debris picked up but we are trying to encourage people to do it so that we can wrap it up, so that we can be more efficient with the county funds that we pay our company."
Smith adds that this only applies to public roads, the county will evaluate the private roads for debris pick up at a later time.
