GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County is beginning to recover from the destruction left behind by Hurricane Michael.

Hurricane Michael brought extreme wind and rain causing damage to roadways and houses in Gadsden County.

The hurricane hit the area Wednesday afternoon. The intensity of the storm caused a total of four people to loose their lives.

Most of the residents in the area are still out of power. Gadsden County officers and emergency crews are hit the streets Thursday to help clean up debris left over from the storm.

"I can't say we were actually ready for something like that, because no one can really be ready for something of that magnitude, but we were here to put forth every effort with our search and rescue and to aid the citizens in Gadsden County," said Anglie Hightower, Gadsden County Sheriffs Office Public Information Officer.

Hightower says the worst areas hit from the storm are Greensboro and Chattahoochee.

Authorities told us that this is one of the worst storms to hit the area. The county's emergency crews are working tirelessly to help the residents in the area get their lives back to normal.
