TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- A Florida State University student representing the state of Florida as Miss Florida in the 2014 Miss America Pageant was named third runner up in the competition.
21-year-old Victoria Cowen will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Supporters gathered for a watch party at 101 Restaurant in Tallahassee. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and is a former member of the FSU Golden Girls.
Cowen's former roommate, Rachel Sanborn, said she knew that she would make it far in the competition.
"I've known Tori since I was in high school and I know she truly deserves this," said Sanborn. "She's worked hard every single day. Honestly she deserves this more than anyone else I know and I know she's going to do great out there."
Decatur County's very own Maggie Bridges represented the peach state as Miss Georgia. The 21-year-old from Brinson is a senior at Georgia Tech.
Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev, won the crown. This is the third time in a row that someone from the empire state has earned the title.
