TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The 2015 Academy Award nominees were announced Thursday morning, and some Florida State University alums made the cut.
FSU's College of Motion Picture Arts has produced Oscar-nominated alumni in the past for films such as 12 Years a Slave, Lincoln, and Dallas Buyers Club. The U.S. News & World Report ranks the college at number five in the country for film schools.
Here's some FSU alumni who worked on this year's Oscar-nominated films:
- Susan Dawes, who graduated in 1993, was a dialogue editor for Wild, which has nominations for best actress (Reese Witherspoon) and best supporting actress (Laura Dern), and for X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is nominated for best special effects.
- Amanda Farinos, who graduated in 2000, was an effects department coordinator for Into the Woods, which has nominations for best supporting actress (Meryl Streep), best costume design, and best production design.
- Marc Ostroff, who graduated in 1997, worked in visual effects for X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is nominated for best visual effects, and Maleficent, which is nominated for best costume design.
