TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The former elections supervisor of Broward County is trying to get her job back.
Brenda Snipes was in federal court Monday afternoon. You'll remember Governor Rick Scott suspended Snipes in late November after Broward County did not finish the recount process on time.
After U.S. District Judge Mark Walker heard from both sides several times, he delayed his ruling on whether or not this case will move forward, saying only that he will rule "as soon as possible."
Attorneys for Snipes say that since there was no hearing before she was suspended, her due process rights have been violated.
The state argues that under Florida law, Governor Scott had the authority to suspend Snipes.
Her office was the source of national controversies during the recount process, which Broward County did not finish in time.
Judge Walker said even if there is no jurisdiction for Snipes' reinstatement, she still deserves an opportunity to be heard and voice her side of the story.
