Popular farmers market kicks-off in Downtown Valdosta

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Downtown Valdosta Farm days is coming to a sidewalk near you.

The popular farmers market will take place in downtown Valdosta, on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.

The market consists of vendors that offer a variety of fresh locally-grown fruits, vegetables, plants, meats and organic produce.

The purpose of the event is to educate the community on healthy alternatives available to them locally.  

Healthy cooking demonstrations and informational packages will be given to the market patrons to help increase healthy eating habits.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants can use their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to purchase items at the market.
