MYAKKA CITY, Fla. -- 24-year-old Stacy Glover was asked to watch his in-laws' 12-pound Dachshund at their home on Cutting Horse Trail near Myakka City back in August. According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Glover told the dog's owners when they got back that the dog had run away.
The owners reviewed their home surveillance video and found Glover physically abusing Athena, throwing her out the back door several feet from the home. After the dog attempted to hide under patio furniture, Glover chased, captured and began beating her with his fist. Glover then picked her up by the throat and carried the dog back into the home. Later, Glover is seen carrying the lifeless dog out the back door and into a nearby wooded area. He returns a short time later without the dog.
Glover was arrested August 27 on four felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal and one felony count of Tampering with Evidence. The arraignment was set for 9 a.m. Friday in Tampa.
