TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The window for parents to apply for Florida Prepaid is now open.
Florida Prepaid allows families to lock in tuition prices right now and get a head start on paying off the cost of tuition.
WTXL's Jada Williams was live Monday morning to share details about changes to the process this years.
Open enrollment runs from now through April 30.
Shannon Colavecchio is a Florida Prepaid spokesperson.
"We think this is going to be more beneficial to families," she said. "Typically our window used to overlap at the holidays. We know that we're spending a lot of money over the holidays over our children and others and so we thought if we move this to the first of the year or the beginning of the year, many families are starting to look at the finances ahead. And maybe there was a bonus that came at the end of last year or a new job and its a way for families to be kind of strategic in how they're saving."
Because this year marks 30 years, Florida Prepaid is waiving the enrollment fee.
