JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A large shipment never made it to it's destination after crews with the Customs and Border Protection out of Jacksonville seized over 3,600 pounds of cocaine last month.

CBP says a P-3 Orion crew tracked a boat for two days in the Eastern Pacific before the Coast Guard arrived to seize the boat and three Colombian nationals on board.

On Dec.17, authorities seized 3,670 pounds of cocaine and arrested the three Colombian nationals.

Authorities say the estimated street value of the drugs is $48 million.

The National Air Security Operations Center-Jacksonville forms half of the P-3 operations wing, along with its partner center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

These P-3 aircraft operate throughout North and South America in defense of the borders of the United States and to prevent attempts to smuggle persons or contraband.
