ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A North Florida deputy has been arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after being accused of sexually assaulting at least two children under the age of six.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has arrested Jerome Bernard Zaid, 33, of Pensacola, on charges of battery of a child and sexual battery of a child.

At the time of his arrest, Zaid was employed as a deputy with Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Agents believe Zaid victimized at least two children under the age of six, both of whom Zaid had frequent contact with.

According to WEAR, the child told officials that Zaid would urinate “a lot” in her mouth. The alleged abuse started on or around October 2017 through July 21, 2019.

Zaid was arrested on July 26 and booked into the Escambia County Jail on a no-bond status. The investigation is ongoing, and agents believe there may be additional victims.

If anyone has information about Zaid, you are asked to please call the Pensacola Regional Operations Center at 850-595-2100.

Zaid's mugshot is exempt from release under Florida law because he is a law enforcement officer.
