Duke Energy won't disconnect power over nonpayment amid COVID-19 pandemic

TAMPA, Fla. -- Duke Energy announced on Friday it would no longer disconnect customers' power over nonpayment during the coronavirus pandemic.

"As part of the community and a provider of essential services, we are here to support you during this uncertain time," the company said in a statement.

The company said the announcement applies to all home and business accounts in Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tenneesee.
