Florida Lottery announces $27 billion in transfers to education

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Lottery announces $27 billion in transfers to education since 1988.

The Florida Lottery says in fiscal year 2014, the Lottery had record-breaking sales of more than $5.36 billion. This means a $1.49 billion transfer - or more than $100 million a month to education.

This is the 12th consecutive year the Lottery has transferred more than $1 billion to education.

The Florida Lottery is also responsible for sending 650 thousand students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
