TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Forty-four Members of 132nd highway patrol recruit class graduated Friday.

Recruits went through 29 weeks of classroom and physical training while in the academy. Recruits also trained in topics such as human relations and first aid.

Those troopers will join over 1,900 troopers who patrol state roads and are responsible for keeping them, and Florida drives, safe.

"These 44 men and women have made the ultimate commitment to the people of the state of Florida by joining the Florida Highway Patrol," said DHSMV Executive Director Terry L. Rhodes. "I am honored by their service and confident that their efforts in the Patrol will help to make a safer Florida."

"More than 7,000 people applied for the 132nd academy class, and only 44 made it through" said Col. Spaulding, director of the Florida Highway Patrol. "FHP sets high expectations are for quality, ethical and professional law enforcement that requires our troopers to be the best of the best."

Attorney General Pam Bondi delivered the keynote addresses during Friday's graduation ceremony.

"I want to congratulate the Florida Highway Patrol graduates and thank them for their dedication to serving and protecting the great citizens of our state. These 44 new state troopers will help build on FHP's legacy of providing public safety and assistance to the millions of residents and visitors who travel Florida's highways every day," said Attorney General Pam Bondi.
