WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Florida Department of Corrections officer who was deployed to help during Hurricane Michael, died while on duty in Wakulla County.
According to FDC, Sergeant Derrick Dunn became unresponsive on Oct. 12 at Wakulla Correctional Institution, where he had been deployed to support the officers impacted by Hurricane Michael.
FDC said his cause of death appears to be of natural causes.
Sgt. Dunn served Florida as an officer since 1996. His home institution was Central Florida Reception Center.
