TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The FAMU Sustainability Institute is celebrating Earth Month by unveiling their new Sustainability Education and Engagement Destination.
The facility was built with the $30,000 gained from winning The Home Depot Re-tool Your School Grant.
Officials say the garden is open to the FAMU students and the community.
"The more we can teach our own and the people in the community about sustainability it has a broader impact on the state," said FAMU President Larry Robinson.
Some of the food from the event was grown on campus by students and the solar panels on top of the S.E.E.D. facility were used to power the equipment used for Friday's event.
