TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Music fans across the world are remembering Prince, including those from Florida A & M University, who performed alongside the music legend.
The FAMU Marching 100 were invited to perform with Prince back in 2007 for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Miami.
Dr. Shelby Chipman, FAMU's Associate Professor of Music, says the rehearsals leading up to the performance were rigorous, but it was all worth it: "This 'Purple Rain' piece was truly spectacular because I'm sure everybody knows the script. It actually started to rain as soon as we started to play that piece and so, us having all the electrical illuminated equipment that we had on for that performance and that stadium with over 75,000 people, it just truly electrified in that performance along with Prince and the Marching 100. I would never forget that."
Prince's Super Bowl Halftime Show is considered one of the greatest halftime performances of all time. You can catch the performance here.
