TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Less than a week from election day, the proposed Leon Children's Services Council ballot initiative is getting more support.
The Tallahassee Urban League's Board of Directors voted unanimously to back the Council.
Tallahassee Urban League President Curtis Taylor says the council would provide millions of dollars for early learning and reading skills, crime prevention, and healthcare needs.
Those against the council say they believe the guidelines are too vague.
"We have got to have programs and funding to address the multitude of problems that we have with our children," said Taylor. "It all starts with parenting and early learning. The Children's Services Council will provide those funds. That's all you need to focus on. Don't focus on anything else."
If approved, the Council will be Florida's tenth CSC.
