WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office has received a new armored transport vehicle.
The armored transport vehicle, a.k.a. the "Dragoon", was delivered to the Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
This vehicle can be used for several different purposes to include rescue during hurricanes, weather, and natural disaster events as well as active shooter and officer rescue situations. Neighboring counties will also have access to the vehicle should the need arise.
They say the Florida National Guard 83rd Troop Command in Tallahassee and the 868th En Co in Live Oak assisted with the delivery.
"I would like to personally thank Captain Taylor Wagner, First Sergeant Chad Faison, Sergeant First Class Dereal Alexander & Sergeant Kendrick Alexander of the 868th En Co Live Oak for their help today to safely transport and deliver this vehicle to us," said Sheriff Miller said. "The 'Dragoon' will be used when needed to keep our county and it's citizens safe."
The vehicle was obtained through surplus for $500.
