Doctor, Nurse Accused of Running Pill Mill in Georgia

EASTMAN, Ga. (AP) - Prosecutors are accusing a doctor and nurse in Eastman of running an illegal pill mill  

WMAZ-TV (http://on.wmaz.com/1B15sIA ) reports Dr. George Mack Bird and Jennifer Douglas were arrested Thursday after a raid at a women's health clinic, a weight loss clinic and other locations.

Bird was charged with illegally possessing prescription drugs and illegally writing prescriptions, including Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and Xanax. Douglas was charged with two counts of selling a controlled substance. 

Authorities said they seized nearly $1 million in cash, two office buildings a home, four vehicles and roughly $3 million in other assets.   

Bird was being held without bond Monday in the Dodge County jail. Douglas could not be reached for comment. It was not immediately clear if they had lawyers.
