TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Governor Ron DeSantis's inauguration kicked off Tuesday morning with a prayer breakfast.
Both DeSantis and incoming Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez were there with their spouses.
There were prayers for the Panhandle and for Hurricane Michael recovery, for the military, and for Desantis' governorship and his marriage.
Nunez said she relied on her faith to determine her future and her goals. She asked the lord to help guide her as she takes on a new role.
DeSantis spoke about what he feels is the importance of religion.
DeSantis said faith helped end slavery, segregation, and the Cold War.
He also said he didn't want a parade as part of his inauguration. Instead, he wanted to take the time to baptize his 9 month-old baby.
