Decatur County officials warn against illegal dumping

DECATUR, CO., GA -- A new warning from the Bainbridge-Decatur Marshall’s Office about hiring shady companies to haul away your unwanted junk.

County officials have been investigating several recent cases of illegal dumping. The latest they say involves a landlord who paid what they thought was a trustworthy company to clean out a vacant home.

While the company was supposed to haul the junk to the county dump, officials say they found it stashed on property on Carter’s Mill Road.

The landlord was contacted and did clean up the area to avoid a citation.

Officials say they best way to avoid a similar scenario is to make smart use of the city and county landfills rather than hiring an untrustworthy outside source.
