TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Governor Ron DeSantis announced the State of Florida’s plan for the second round of disbursement of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act funding for counties with populations below 500,000 on Friday.

In June, DeSantis announced the first round of CRF local government funding released from the Florida Division of Emergency Management to Florida’s 55 counties with populations below 500,000, totaling $318.8 million.

This second round of funding provides an additional $255 million, for a total of $574 million, to these 55 counties with the following requirements:

  • Counties seeking an additional disbursement must provide documentation on how funds were expended from the first round of funding.
  • Counties must provide a spending plan for the additional funds sought from the CRF specific to this round of funding.
  • Because the State of Florida is responsible for repaying the federal government any funds used by counties on ineligible expenditures, additional disbursements beyond this second round of funding will be handled on a reimbursement basis.
