TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -  A task force of community leaders have launched a survey focused on helping local employers to evaluate and improve their family friendly practices and culture.

Stemming from Mayor Andrew Gillum’s Family First Initiative, the goal of the survey is to create a work culture that allows employees to better invest in children and families, which allows local businesses to attract the best and brightest to the Capital City.

“This effort will not only celebrate local businesses and employers who are going above and beyond to support their employees, but it will also help us to retain talent by branding our City as one of the best places to work in Florida,” said Mayor Gillum. “This task force has done some incredible work to help our community understand that what is good for children and families, is also good for business.”

The task force committee is comprised of business and non-profit leaders from across Tallahassee and Leon County is creating a structure to reward and designate existing family friendly employers.

Research on these issue has shown that these kind of work environments are extremely valuable for children, parents, and elders at the same time as employers.
