COLQUITT CO., GA (WTXL) - More arrests and indictments came from what deputies are calling a massive meth ring that has been in operation for more than a year.

During that time, deputies said this ring expanded into other counties and even other states.

Colquitt County Sheriff officer's arrested six people in May, and it's just now being released that it was a part of a large-scale investigation.

Sheriff Rod Howell says 16 Colquitt County residents and a Florida man were indicted on July 11th.

Howell says this was sealed information because they didn't want it to interfere with their investigation.

"It's another step on the latter. Obviously, the more we get the more drugs we get off the streets of Colquitt County," said Howell.

Then last Thursday, officers arrested 11 suspects who they say they've been following for a while.

"At some point in times, agents came in contact with them multiple times," said Howell.

The number of people arrested in connection to this meth ring has increased from 42 to about 65.

"It's huge for us in the capacity that we got dealers off the streets," said Howell.

Some of the people were indicted on charges with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, more than 500 grams of cocaine, more than 28 grams of cocaine, and marijuana.

"You got to go after the dealers, the distribution so that's what you have to go after. I think it's good but we can't lay our heads down, we have to keep digging," said Howell.

Officers with the Drug Enforcement team continuously try new tactics to minimize its presence in the community.
