VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - In his third season at the helm of the Valdosta State football program, head coach Kerwin Bell has led the Blazers to the Division II National championship game.
It wasn't always pretty, Coach Bell said it himself, this Valdosta State football team is resilient and they are gritty. They got it done on Saturday, bringing home a 34-20 win over Notre Dame and the National Semi Finals and in turn, this Blazer football team is playing for a National title.
"Listen our lives are nothing but a bunch of stories right? These young kids don't realize that. Then they get my age and they get kids and grandkids. Its just all about being able to tell great stories. This run that they are apart of and hopefully they bring home the win. That's a great story to tell the rest of your life," said Coach Bell."
WTXL Sports Director Alison Posey says the perfect name for the next chapter of that book of that life story is National Champions. Valdosta State is looking to add a little more bling to their collection. If they win the national Championship next weekend, it will be their fourth national title in school history
