TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Two years ago, our Building Tallahassee series took a closer look at the North Monroe corridor and how the former Ramada Inn had been empty for years.
Now, the Days Inn & Suites Tallahassee Conference Center has taken over with a soft opening two weeks ago, and already filling up rooms.
After eight months of renovations, The Days Inn and Suites Tallahassee Conference Center is thrilled to open their doors.
The hotel includes a fitness center, continental breakfast area, grand ballroom for parties, and plenty of conference space to accommodate local businesses.
The general manager, Dipesh Chauhan says, the Days Inn and Suites is the first hotel off the highway on Monroe Street, making it's location perfect for travelers.
"The structure of this building is so sound, that it's very hard to find hotels that are abandoned like this," said Chauhan. "Most of them are made out of wood."
Chauhan adds, the new Days Inn and Suites has a grand ballroom with up to six break out spaces, something no other hotel in the Capital City has.
The second renovation phase is in the works right now. It includes a new pool, improvements to the building's exterior, and completely re-doing another 50 rooms.
The Days Inn and Suites Tallahassee Conference Center plans to host a grand opening party for the community when phase two of the renovations are complete.
