TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - There are new details about how Florida State University Law Professor Dan Markel died.

WTXL obtained a copy of the autopsy report, which concludes Markel's cause of death was gunshot wounds of the face and head.

Markel was found in his car on July 18, 2014, suffering from gunshot wounds by a neighbor who called 911.

Markel was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Police say Markel was the intended target.

The autopsy report shows Markel was shot two times, in intermediate range, which means between six and 30 inches away.

According to the Pathologist, he was shot once in the forehead, and once in the left cheek. He concluded that these bullets caused massive hemorrhaging and bleeding.

The autopsy also found Markel had gunshot wound injuries to his left forearm. The blood toxicology was negative.

Three people were indicted on murder charges.

Luis Rivera pled guilty to second degree murder in October of 2016 and was sentenced to 19 years in state prison.

Sigfredo Garcia and Katherine Magbanua will go to trial together on October 8.
