TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A former FSU fraternity member who is charged in the hazing death of Pi Kappa Phi pledge Andrew Coffey has again had his bond revoked for drinking.

Clayton Muehlstein, one of the eight men accused in the hazing death of  Pi Kappa Phi pledge Andrew Coffey, is now a wanted man after violating his pre-trial release conditions.

According to court documents, Muehlstein violated his conditions just an hour into New Year's Day. The results were captured by a special bracelet designed to analyze alcohol consumption through your skin.

A non-compliance report shows that Muehlstein denied drinking when the alert for his alcohol consumption was recorded.

Muehlstein said that he was in his apartment when the bracelet started going off, but it was late so he went to bed about 30 minutes later.

"The I woke up in my apartment," Muehlstein wrote in an email, "and it was not acting up again, so I just went on with my day. I did not consume any alcohol so I am confused as to why this happened."

A case management hearing is set for Friday, Feb. 1.

In April 2018, Muehlstein was jailed after a judge revoked his bond for getting into a drunken bar fight.

Five of the eight suspects have taken plea deals in hazing case while three others are still waiting for a decision from the First District Court of Appeals.

Andrew Coffey died of alcohol poisoning in November 2017 during an off-campus fraternity party.

FSU hazing death suspect jailed after drunken bar fight

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One of the men accused in the hazing death of FSU pledge Andrew Coffey is back in jail after his bond was revoked for violating his pretrial release conditions.

Clayton Muehlstein is back in jail after his bond was revoked by a Leon County circuit judge.

State Attorney Jack Campbell filed a motion to revoke his $2,500 bond on April 9. The motion was granted on Thursday.

The next day, Muehlstein's defense attorney filed a motion to reinstate his bond. The attorney claims Muehlstein's bond was revoked based on reported observations of a law enforcement officer, not "scientific testing."

According to an incident report, Muehlstein, 22, and another man, identified in the report as Ryan Lawrence, were pushing, grabbing, and throwing punches at one of the staff members manning the VIP entrance line for Tenn Night Club.

Investigators determined that Muehlstein was under the influence of alcohol and contacted his pretrial officer. Muehlstein and the other man weren't arrested, but were issued trespass warnings.

After his bond was revoked and a warrant was issued for his arrest, Muehlstein turned himself in on Friday.

Muehlstein's defense attorney requested a hearing on the motion to set bond. That hearing is set for April 18, 2018.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Prosecutors are asking that bond be revoked for one of the men accused in the hazing death of FSU pledge Andrew Coffey after he was found drunkenly fighting at a bar on The Strip.

On Monday, State Attorney Jack Campbell filed a motion to revoke Clayton Muehlstein's $2,500 bond. He is asking to keep Muehlstein in custody until he faces trial.

According to an incident report, Muehlstein, 22, and another man, identified in the report as Ryan Lawrence, were pushing, grabbing, and throwing punches at one of the staff members manning the VIP entrance line for Tenn Night Club.

Bouncers broke up the fight and pushed Muehlstein and the other man on the ground and they were detained while police investigated.

A check on Muehlstein revealed that he was on pretrial release for a hazing charge and that he was violating his conditions by drinking,

Documents note that Muehlstein "freely admitted" that he was not supposed to be drinking and shouldn't even be at the location since it was an alcohol drinking establishment.

Investigators determined that Muehlstein was under the influence of alcohol and contacted his pretrial officer. Muehlstein and the other man were issued trespass warnings.

No one was injured in the fight and the staff members did not press charges.
