SECOND CUP: Southside Annual Health and Wellness Fair

(WTXL) — Wendy Barber joins us from the Tallahassee Senior Center & Foundation joined WTXL Thursday morning to tell us about their upcoming Health and Wellness Fair.

This benefit is a part of The Southside Senior Services and Outreach Program. That is part of Tallahassee Senior Services, who's mission is to offer programs, activities, and opportunities designed to encourage active living, optimal aging, and social fitness for independent adults age 50+.

There will be health screenings, exhibitors, lunch and door prizes. Former backup singer for Patty LaBelle will perform at the event and Marghi McLearn will lead attendees in a lively "Ageless Grace" workshop.

Local author, Waletta Dunn, will also speak about the value of seniors sharing their stories with the younger generation.

It's all happening Friday, September 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jake Gaither Community Center (801 Bragg Drive).

The event is open to the public. A $2 donation is suggested but not required.
