(WTXL) — Bill Bowers and Denise Barber from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Tallahassee joined WTXL Sunrise Wednesday morning to tell us about the Bluebird Walk & Run for Brookie B.
JR Alford Greenway will come alive at dawn on Labor Day with party lights and a big tent for shade.
Toe-tapping live music will be provided by the Long Lost String Band, featuring lots of Irish jigs and reels. Bring your appetite for a grand assortment of refreshments.
There will also be races for runners and stellar scenery for walkers.
Memory Lane was created in remembrance of those who have died by suicide and in recognition of the resilient survivors, friends and family who volunteer, run, and walk at the Bluebird event. Funds raised are used to help people understand mental illness and to offer opportunities for survivors of suicide to become involved in increasing awareness and prevention of suicide.
Registration fees range from $0-$20, depending on choice of timing and/or T-shirt.
The event will be held on Monday, September 2, 2019. Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K Run begins at 8:30 a.m.
