(WTXL) — The Capital City is home to a number of ethnic groups and Monday we talked to Luis Abad and Loren Mosley from the Filipino community.

The Big Bend Filipino-American Association (BBFAA) is hosting the 8th Annual Fiesta Filipino in downtown Kleman Plaza on September 14 from 10AM-5PM.

Fiesta Filipino, the 8th Annual Pista sa Nayon, is an all-day family event featuring Filipino food vendors and arts & crafts vendors.

The City of Tallahassee's showmobile is the focal point of events beginning at 10 AM. The stage will feature martial arts demonstrations, singing and traditional dance exhibits, and a popular karaoke contest with cash prizes for kids and adults.

A reverse dessert contest will also be held, where "judges" pay a $5 fee to taste and vote for their favorite dessert. Emcees will talk about Filipino culture and ask trivia questions through-out the day with give-away prizes for correct answers.

A dance contest and Zumba finish up the festivities at 5 PM. Proceeds help pay for area high school and college students with $500 grants, and sponsor need based scholarships for students in the Philippines.
