TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Legislature wants to create a memorial to remember the victims of the Holocaust.

The House on Wednesday voted to build a memorial on the grounds of the Florida Capitol complex. The bill (SB 716) heads to Gov. Rick Scott. Legislators have set aside $100,000 in the state budget for the memorial.

The House vote in favor of the memorial was 115-1. Rep. John Tobia, a Melbourne Republican, was the lone no vote. The bill was passed unanimously last month by the Florida Senate.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Coral Springs Democrat, said the memorial was needed because the survivors of the Holocaust are dying. He said people need to be reminded of the millions of people who died during World War II at the hands of the Nazis.
