TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Council on Culture & Arts is turning 30 and it wants the public's help to celebrate in style.
COCA has created the 30 for 30 Invitational Exhibition to recognize some of the Big Bend's most accomplished artists.
The organization has exhibited the work of over 6,000 talented painters, illustrators, sculptors, photographers, and fine craftsmen.
Now, COCA is asking the public to pick 30 local artists who have left their marks on the local community and have contributed the most to enhance the quality of life.
Based on those nominations, 30 artists will be invited to show their work at the City Hall gallery.
Amanda Thompson, COCA Exhibitions Director, joined WTXL Midday's Jade Bulecza on the show today to discuss the importance of this event.
"We really serve as a catalyst to encourage and nurture arts and culture, history and heritage within our region," said Thompson.
The deadline for nominations is November 21, 2014 and the Exhibition Reception is set for January 30, 2015.
