DETROIT (AP) — An interactive theater show that recently arrived in Detroit forces participants to use their brains.

Or have them eaten.

Called "Trapped in a Room With a Zombie," it works like this: Up to a dozen people are trapped in a room inside a Detroit high-rise for an hour alongside a bloodthirsty zombie who is chained to a wall. Every five minutes, a buzzer sounds, and the zombie is given another foot of chain, allowing the undead creature to scamper even closer to its next meal.

If participants don't solve a series of puzzles within the 60 minutes, the zombie "eats" everyone in the group.

The Detroit version is one of more than a dozen such shows around the U.S. Executive producer Rick Broida says it's "more 'fun scary,' than 'scary fun.'"
