ATLANTA (AP) - Two members of Georgia's state ethics commission have resigned from their board seats.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/1VZ15XR ) reports that board chair Hillary Stringfellow and member Heath Garrett resigned this month from the agency that enforces campaign-finance and other ethics laws.
Both Stringfellow and Garrett served during a tumultuous time for the body, officially known as the Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission. Several former employees filed lawsuits in recent years and a 2014 state audit questioned the agency's ability to ensure laws were being fully followed.
Stringfellow says in her resignation letter that executive secretary Stefan Ritter is providing "needed direction and oversight." Garrett told the newspaper that the agency is in capable hands.
Ritter, a former senior assistant attorney general, was hired in April 2015.
