TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- This weekend is your chance to help honor ten women who are making a difference in our community.

The inaugural Dr.  Eva C. Wanton Recognition Luncheon is this weekend. It's put on by the Leon County Chapter of The Charmettes, Inc. Not only does it say thank you to area women who are making a difference; this event also benefits scholarships and cancer research.

Taylore Maxey, Chapter Vice President, joined us on WTXL Midday to talk about why this luncheon is so important. Click the thumbnail to watch the complete interview.

You can take part Saturday, May 16 starting at 11 a.m. It's at the Capital City Country Club (1601 Gulf Terrace in Tallahassee). Tickets are $40. For more information, call (850) 212-5034 or click here.
