Local Sorority Awards Over $10,000 in Scholarships to High School Seniors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- On Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m., the Delta Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will be hosting their 2017 Scholarship and Awards Reception. 

At the ceremony, the sorority will award more than $10,000 dollars in scholarship funds to 13 local high school seniors. 

The ceremony will be held out at the Providence Community Service Center, the address is 1908 Highland st. Tallahassee, Fla.

One of the sorority's international program initiatives is educational enrichment.

Applicants were selected and awarded scholarships based on their academic performance, leadership experience, and communication skills demonstrated in a written essay.

All school officials, family, and friends are invited to celebrate with award recipients for their academic success.
