TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Law enforcement were able to safely detonate a makeshift explosive recently in the New York/New Jersey area. That's due to a passerby quick thinking and call in to authorities.
Lt. Grady Jordan with the Leon County Sheriff's Office agrees that such a reaction likely saved lives. Jordan notes it's important to be vigilant and constantly aware of your surroundings but never put yourself in harm's way.
Reinforcing the 'See Something, Say Something' mindset, if you encounter something suspicious, it's best to safely leave the area and call authorities.
Jordan says The Leon County Sheriff's Office along with all law enforcement in our area are trained with FBI bomb techniques.
